Abadat (a-bá-dat) - a word from the old Čakavian dialect meaning to observe and to notice - is an independent window gallery inviting you to do the same.
Located by the seaside at the entrance to Poreč’s old town, a very active pedestrian passage used daily by both locals and visitors.
Each presentation is minimal: one artist, one artwork, held in place for a one month.
There is no clear beginning or end and no opening hours.
Abadat is an independent, privately initiated gallery project created to give visibility to artists and artworks we believe deserve to be seen.
The gallery operates on a non-profit basis. Exhibitions are organised without commercial purpose, and artists are not charged for exhibiting their work. Abadat does not take commissions or generate income from the artworks presented. All exhibition, communication and promotional activities are provided free of charge as part of the project.
The purpose of Abadat is simply to create a small space for art in everyday life, to discover artists, share their work with a wider audience, and offer a little window of visibility to projects we find interesting and meaningful.
There is no commercial transaction between Abadat and participating artists. The project exists because we believe that art deserves spaces to be seen, even when those spaces are tiny.
